Jaguar Cowling #AuC.0005:  This cowling was the fifth prototype and the first to get installed, finished, certified, and flown. I modified this cowling over the next 6 years in many ways, looking for 1 or 2 knots.  In the end (that is, before it was removed and made into the 6th generation cowling), this TIger, N28747, would do a True Airspeed of 159 to 160 knots at 1000 msl.  I could fly the 288 nm flight from Auburn, CA to Lancaster, CA and average 144 knots(including climbs and descents).
