One of the most difficult steps is getting the gap between the cowling and the spinner to be uniform. I use stir sticks taped together for 3/16 inch thickness. The rear spinner bulkhead needs to be low with respect to the cowling. This is just about right.  This tells me the cowling is fitted to the airframe.  The centerline hinge is installed next hold the front of the cowling in this location.  Then comes the upper cowling halves.
