7GCAA Citabria - - - > Back to "Restoration" page |

This 2001 Citabria began life as a 1975 7ECA project: A bare fuselage, 10 boxes of parts (all of which were totally trashed), a worn out O235, and wood spar wings, ailerons, rudder, and elevator, which had been covered by the seller. The wings, as it turned out, had cracks in the spars. Upon stripping the Ceconite off the wings and control surfaces, all but the ailerons had to be replaced. The price $10,000 was right, considering the condition of the plane. I sold the engine for $7000. Three years and $50,000 later, I was issued a new data tag by American Champion as a completely restored 2001 7GCAA. It took 3 DARs and 1 DER to verify the work. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
